  • Christopher Bently

    President & Director

As an avid environmentalist, Christopher insists on nothing less than exemplary green operating fundamentals in every one of the Bently Enterprises companies. Along with producing biofuels and investing in green technology, he is creating a fully organic and sustainable ranching practice in Nevada's beautiful Carson Valley.

His next venture is to restore a turn of the century brick mill and creamery into a hub for culture and drive the local economy without driving development.

"I see no sense in building new structures when we have beautiful historic properties left abandoned. We need a sense of tradition and worth brought back to our culture. A disposable world just won't do."

  • Susan Carbiener

    Director of Operations

Susan has been affiliated with the Bently family of companies since joining Bently Nevada's HR Department in 2001. Prior to joining Bently, Susan worked for Snap-on Tools in their Carson City , NV distribution center. Before relocating to Carson Valley, Susan spent many years working in the international logistics industry. She held various senior positions in Finance, Pricing, Marketing and Human Resources with American President Lines, Ltd. headquartered in Oakland, CA and with Delta Steamship Lines in New Orleans, LA.

  • Matt McKinney

    General Manager

Matt McKinney is a Graduate of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He has a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Masters of Business Administration. Matt grew up — and worked — on ranches throughout the Rocky Mountain States before going to college. Afterwards, he worked on two large Purebred Angus operations in California. Matt takes care of Bently Ranch's cattle, and also facilitates the leasing and care for the outside cattle who sometimes share the Bently Ranch. Matt also oversees the large commercial compost operation where Bently Ranch creates healthy compost for its own farming operation.

  • Marvin Worthington

    Ranch Operations Manager

Marvin "Woody" Worthington is the Operations Manager for Bently Ranch. Originally from Southern Oregon, Woody served for over fourteen years in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in San Diego, CA; Okinawa, Japan; and Bridgeport, CA before he and his family moved to the Carson Valley area in 1995. His in-depth training and education in operations management and logistics led him to Bently Ranch early in 2006. Drawing on his understanding of the trucking, mechanical, equipment, and related personnel needs of business procedures, he is able to provide product delivery in a timely manner for Bently Ranch.

Our History

Founded by Donald E. Bently, a successful Nevada entrepreneur and conservationist, Bently Ranch has been a guardian of Nevada's ecology and natural beauty since 1997. His son, Christopher, currently runs the Ranch.

We promote and develop a better ranching and farming model that can be used throughout the United States: a model that is both high in efficiency through diverse use of natural resources and grounded in the traditions of the Old West.

Our commitment to the quality of life in Carson Valley means that we give back to our community. For example, the Buckeye Creek realignment project addressed flood threats that posed minimal danger to our properties, but had great potential to damage our neighbors. Keeping to our philosophy of protecting entire ecosystems and communities rather than merely our own interests, this project diverts a flood path away from a local community of farmers and into Bently pastures — in our opinion, it's better for us to lose a crop than for our neighbors to lose their homes and businesses, and for the shape of Carson Valley to be irreparably damaged.

Ultimately, we believe in sharing and spreading the knowledge about sustainable farming. If you have any questions, or would like to visit, please contact us.
